"sharpen your mind with this puzzle"

I borrowed 50,000 rupees from my mother and 50,000 from my father. Then I bought a laptop worth 100,000 rupees. It had a discount, so I got it for 97,000 rupees.

That means I saved 3,000 rupees. Out of that, I returned 1,000 to my father, 1,000 to my mother, and kept 1,000 for myself. Now I owe my father 49,000 and my mother 49,000 — a total of 98,000.

If I add this 98,000 to the 1,000 I kept with me, the total becomes 99,000 — not 100,000. One thousand rupees is missing.

Where did that 1,000 rupees go? Scholars, please guide."
