The English word "trade" translates to "торговля", so trading is the buying and selling of assets.
In a modern context, trading refers to short-term trading. Long-term trading is usually called investing. It is not uncommon for an unsuccessful short-term buying transaction to turn a trader into an investor.
The difference between trading and investing mainly lies in the approach to asset evaluation. From a trader's perspective, the price of an asset is a number on the terminal that needs to increase for the transaction to be successful. This category includes day traders who monitor minute Japanese candlesticks and enjoy volatile markets. The more price fluctuations there are, the greater the potential profit for such a trader if they can predict the market's direction.
The following types of trading exist:
medium-term trading;
long-term trading;
technical trading;
swing trading;
day trading;
skalping.
