Journalist Laura Shin reported that the team of U.S. President Donald Trump opposed a provision that prohibits conflicts of interest for senior government officials.
According to her, the wording provides for restrictions for the president, vice president, members of Congress, and their families regarding participation in the cryptocurrency business.
In addition, Laura Shin noted that the opposition from representatives of Trump is likely related to his numerous cryptocurrency projects, which have previously blocked the advancement of another stablecoin bill — the GENIUS Act.
Let us recall that on June 11, 2025, the GENIUS Act received bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate, which will allow the initiative to advance for further consideration in the House of Representatives.
