#VietnamCryptoPolicy
Vietnam has taken a monumental step in the regulation of cryptocurrencies. On June 14, 2025, the National Assembly of Vietnam approved the Digital Technology Industry Law, officially legalizing crypto assets and establishing a clear regulatory framework. This legislation will come into effect on January 1, 2026, and distinguishes between "virtual assets" and "crypto assets," without categorizing them as securities or central bank digital currencies.
This change marks a significant shift in Vietnam's policy, which had previously maintained an ambiguous stance. Despite the lack of formal regulation, the country has been a leader in cryptocurrency adoption. The new law aims to attract foreign investment, promote technological innovation, and enhance compliance against money laundering, positioning Vietnam as a key player in the Southeast Asian crypto market.
