Since April 2024, the company has steadily increased its Bitcoin holdings, reaching 8,888 BTC as of June 2, 2025, with a total investment of approximately $829.7 million at an average price of $93,354 per BTC. Metaplanet plans to acquire 100,000 BTC by the end of 2026 and 210,000 BTC by 2027, funding these purchases through stock and bond issuances, which has driven its market capitalization to $3.82 billion and a 5,000% increase in its stock price since April 2024. This strategy, inspired by MicroStrategy, reflects a strong bet on Bitcoin as a reserve asset and protection against yen devaluation, consolidating Metaplanet as a benchmark in corporate cryptocurrency adoption.
