Metaplanet, once a traditional hotel development company in Japan, has made a dramatic pivot into the world of cryptocurrency. Since embracing the "Bitcoin Standard" in April 2024, the company has accumulated over 3,350 BTC—with an ambitious goal of reaching 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 by 2026.
This bold move has paid off: Metaplanet’s stock has skyrocketed by over 3,500% in the past year. Their strategy closely mirrors MicroStrategy’s, focusing on long-term Bitcoin accumulation instead of short-term gains.
Looking ahead, Metaplanet plans to launch a Bitcoin-themed hotel in Tokyo and has partnered with Bitcoin Magazine Japan to further promote crypto awareness. The company is clearly betting big on Bitcoin, and so far, the gamble seems to be paying off.
