$BTC Metaplanet has surpassed 10,000 Bitcoin in its holdings, exceeding Coinbase

The Japanese investment company Metaplanet has achieved a significant milestone, officially surpassing 10,000 Bitcoin in its treasury, following its recent acquisition of 1,112 Bitcoin, valued at approximately 117 million dollars. This development places Metaplanet ahead of Coinbase, which holds about 9,267 Bitcoin, solidifying its position as the seventh largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder globally.

Metaplanet began its operations as a hotel and hospitality group, quickly transforming into an investment company focused on Bitcoin. Its strategy reflects the approach that has received extensive media coverage regarding the American company MicroStrategy, which similarly benefited from debt and equity markets to amass large Bitcoin holdings. This ambitious shift for Metaplanet underscores the growing interest among companies worldwide in diversifying their investments in treasury bonds by allocating a significant portion to Bitcoin.
