#VietnamCryptoPolicy
Vietnam’s government is making big moves on #crypto. 🇻🇳🛡️
The Ministry of Finance, under a direct order from PM Phạm Minh Chinh, is racing to create a full legal framework for digital assets—targeting mid-March to May 2025 for draft laws and regulations .
A pilot crypto exchange is now expected in March 2025 within designated financial centres—a sandbox to legally trade and invest in tokens .
For now, using crypto as payment is illegal, with fines of VND 150–200 million (~$6–8k) if violated .
But trading and investing are still allowed—Vietnam ranks top globally in crypto ownership (~17–20 million wallets, ~$120 billion trading volume in 2023) .
Why it matters:
Vietnam’s path toward regulated crypto markets signals a shift from a “grey zone” culture of P2P and offshore platforms to a legally backed ecosystem—one that could unlock consumer protection, tax revenue, and attract institutional investment. 🚀
We’re living through a transformation moment for Vietnamese crypto—keeping one eye on innovation and the other on security.
