#VietnamCryptoPolicy

Vietnam has taken a landmark step in the digital economy with the passage of the Law on Digital Technology Industry, legalizing crypto assets from January 1, 2026. The law classifies digital assets into two categories—Virtual Assets and Crypto Assets—while specifically excluding securities, digital fiat, and other financial instruments. It mandates the creation of a regulatory framework to govern crypto businesses, covering licensing, operations, and compliance. Strict anti-money laundering (AML) and cybersecurity requirements will be enforced, aligning with FATF and international standards. The overarching goals are to position Vietnam as a regional digital tech hub, encourage innovation, attract global investment, and ensure responsible growth of the crypto sector.
