According to a joint investigation by Reuters, Global Ledger, and Recoveris, the FSB and GRU of Russia have used Bitcoin to pay for young people and untrained agents. Recoveris reports that cryptocurrency has been used to recruit youth in Poland for surveillance, sabotage, and arson, and also to hire mercenaries in Donbas and bribe European politicians.
