【Chinese Representative: The U.S. 'Reciprocal Tariff' Narrative is One-Sided and Misleading, Ignoring Service Trade Surplus】The World Trade Organization held its second annual meeting of the Council for Trade in Services in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 13th. The Chinese side pointed out the misleading narrative and erroneous logic of the U.S. 'reciprocal tariff' and called on the U.S. to earnestly comply with WTO rules, resolve differences through multilateral cooperation rather than unilateral measures, and work with all parties to maintain the stability of the global trade system. The Chinese representative noted that the U.S. is the world's largest surplus country in service trade, maintaining a long-term service trade surplus with major trading partners, with the surplus approaching $300 billion in 2024. Moreover, through deep participation in the highest value-added segments of the global value chain, such as R&D, design, and sales, the U.S. gains benefits far exceeding what trade data indicates in international trade and economic globalization. Additionally, the U.S. only discusses losses in goods trade while avoiding mention of gains in service trade, which is clearly one-sided and misleading. The U.S. cannot adopt double standards, applying rules selectively and allowing itself to profit while denying profits to other members, especially developing members. (Xinhua News Agency)$ADA
