Crypto Sparks Cyber Clash: Israel and Iran Lock Horns Online
Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated again — this time in cyberspace — fueled by reports of crypto being used to fund covert operations.
Western intelligence agencies claim Iran is channeling millions through privacy coins like Monero (XMR) and stablecoins like Tether (USDT) on the Tron network to bypass sanctions and support militant groups in Gaza and Lebanon.
In response, Israel launched a cyber campaign called Code Hammer, aiming to disrupt wallets tied to Iran-linked entities. Iran hit back with DDoS attacks and malware targeting Israeli crypto startups and blockchain servers.
Tehran denied the accusations, calling them a “political stunt” meant to damage its efforts to build a crypto-based financial system amid economic pressure.
Markets reacted fast — XMR spiked 12% in a day, while Bitcoin (BTC) dipped 4% as investors weighed the risks of digital assets being drawn into geopolitical conflicts.
