Which is more important, mindset or skill?

Skill determines your lower limit, mindset determines your upper limit.

I encounter many beginners who, in the early stages, blame their poor mindset. Just imagine you are a chef; if you are not clear about the recipe, ingredients, or cutting skills, it is natural to fail at cooking, and it has nothing to do with your mindset. As you progress, you should become familiar with how much salt to add and what the thickness of the cuts should be.

At that point, if you are not performing well in trading, it may be closely related to your mindset. Are you mastering the timing? If the heat is too high, are you able to turn it down in time? This is similar to setting a stop-loss in trading.

The relationship between skill and mindset is not about which is more important; it is a process that evolves as our entire trading journey progresses. We often say we should thin out our reading. At the beginning, you absorb a lot of knowledge, adding to your understanding. Gradually, as those concepts become internalized knowledge, you may discard many of them, making them fewer. Later on, the focus shifts more towards how you make choices under pressure, which tests your mindset even more.
