Approximately two years after the initial accusation, the criminal trial of the Tornado Cash developer is scheduled to begin on July 14.
The Ethereum Foundation announced that it will donate 500,000 dollars for the legal defense of co-founder and Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm, who is facing charges related to alleged conspiracy to operate the cryptocurrency mixing service as an unlicensed money transmission business.
In a post on X on Friday, the foundation said it will contribute 500,000 dollars for Storm's defense, in addition to matching up to 750,000 dollars in donations from the cryptocurrency community.
The announcement came approximately one month before Storm is expected to face trial in New York for money laundering, conspiracy to operate an unlicensed money transmitter, and conspiracy to violate U.S. sanctions.
