Putri Handayani has once again made history by hoisting the red and white flag at the summit of Mount Vinson, the highest point on the Antarctic continent at an elevation of 4,892 meters above sea level.
This achievement was reached on January 8, 2025, at 18:30 Punta Arenas time, making her the third Indonesian woman to successfully reach the summit after eight years.
The climb, which began on January 4, is part of her mission to achieve the title of The Explorers’ Grand Slam, which involves conquering the seven highest peaks in the world and both poles of the Earth.
This success also marks her as the 12th climber from Indonesia to conquer one of the coldest mountains in the world.
