Tragedy in India: Air India Flight Crashes, 269 Dead
Ahmedabad, June 12, 2025 India is mourning a devastating aviation disaster as Air India Flight AI171, en route to London, crashed just minutes after takeoff, slamming into the BJ Medical College hostel in Ahmedabad.
All 242 people onboard 230 passengers and 12 crew were killed instantly. Tragically, at least 28 students in the hostel also lost their lives.
One miraculous survivor, a British national named Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, walked away with minor injuries.
Initial reports suggest no weather issues, hinting at a possible technical failure. Both black boxes have been recovered. Boeing 787 aircraft have been temporarily grounded as a precaution.
Among the victims were former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, 8 senior nuclear scientists, and several prominent academics and business figures.
A copy of the Bhagavad Gita found untouched in the wreckage has sparked spiritual reflection across the country.
The UN called it “a tragic day in human history.” Pressure mounts on Air India to improve safety standards and restore public trust.
