🙈🙉🙊Suspect — Midjourney.
Disney and Universal have accused the AI startup for generating images Midjourney of stealing and copying characters owned by the film studios.
"Midjourney is a typical copyright infringer and an endless pit of plagiarism," reads the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
Plagiarism by generative AI is described in the lawsuit as a problem that "threatens to overturn the fundamental principles of American copyright law that define the U.S. leadership in film, television, and other forms of creative arts."
The corporations are demanding damages from Midjourney but did not specify an exact amount. Additionally, the court is asked to prohibit the AI company from "offering its future video service without appropriate copyright protections."
🔴 Apparently, everyone who wrote prompts in the style of "fantastic old female storyteller, head, close up character design, multiple concept designs, concept design sheet, white background, style of Disney" will become an accomplice.
