The second wave of Israeli attacks is focused on western Iran, reported the Israeli Army Radio. Explosions were reported in the city of Piranshahr, in northwestern Iran, near the border with Iraq.

For its part, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) confirmed that the commander-in-chief of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Major General Hossein Salami, was killed in an Israeli attack that caused a fire at the institution's headquarters.

The report provided few other details about what happened to General Hossein Salami, and also added that there are fears that another senior Revolutionary Guard official, General Gholamali Rashid, as well as two nuclear scientists, Dr. Tehranchi and Fereydoon Abbasi, may also be dead.

The spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff, General Shekarchi, declared that the 'Zionist enemy and the United States will pay a very high price' and added that Iran will unleash a powerful response against the Zionist regime.

The Iranian army threatened 'blood for blood' through its social media.
