🇺🇸 Most retail leaders expect President Trump will not impose "retaliatory" tariffs after 90 days, according to a survey by AlixPartners.
The survey conducted on June 1 with brand and consumer company leaders showed that the majority believe President Trump will withdraw the high tariffs on the EU, Vietnam, India, and Mexico after the 90-day grace period ends in July.
Although Mexico is not subject to "retaliatory tariffs," it is still facing new tariffs from the Trump administration, and the surveyed leaders also predict that the current tariffs will remain unchanged.
Currently, imports from these regions are subject to a 10% tariff while the U.S. conducts bilateral negotiations. Most survey participants believe this 10% tariff will be maintained after negotiations conclude, rather than reverting to the higher tariffs announced on April 2.
For example, 53% of retail leaders expect the tariff on imports from Vietnam to stay at 10%, instead of the 46% initially planned.
