#TrumpTariffs President Donald Trump told reporters on Wednesday that he will send letters to trade partners within the next week or two outlining unilateral tariff rates.
"At some point, we will just be sending out letters. And I think you understand that by saying this is a deal, you can accept it or refuse it," the president said at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
Shortly after the introduction of new high tariffs that rattled markets, Trump announced a suspension of his most severe tariffs, which expires on July 9. However, his latest comments only muddy the waters regarding what may happen next as the deadline approaches.
Earlier on Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Congress that it is "highly likely" that the tariff pause will be extended for countries that are negotiating with the administration "in good faith."
