"Why are all the coins down?"

There are several possible reasons why the crypto market as a whole can decline (depending on when this happens, but generally the causes are similar):

1️⃣ Negative global sentiment

There is bad news globally: for example, world economic issues, geopolitical crises, high inflation, rising interest rates, or economic uncertainty in the US, Europe, or China.

Example: The Fed (US central bank) announces it will raise interest rates → stock markets fall → crypto also corrects.

2️⃣ Bitcoin falls → altcoins follow

Bitcoin usually acts as the market leader. If BTC drops, almost all altcoins tend to fall, often worse (altcoin bleed).

Sometimes, large investors (whales) sell Bitcoin, creating panic selling.

3️⃣ Mass liquidation

Many traders use leverage. If the price drops slightly, they get a margin call → forced to sell → causing further declines.

Domino effect: one liquidation triggers another.

4️⃣ Negative news/regulation

For example: a ban on crypto in a major country, SEC lawsuits (United States), or major hack news.

This makes investors hesitant to enter the market.

5️⃣ Massive profit-taking

After a long bull run, many investors take profits → natural correction → FOMO turns into FUD.

6️⃣ Market manipulation

Whales, market makers, or large institutions sometimes intentionally shake prices to accumulate.
