๐จ Almost Lost Everything โ My Close Call with a Fake Payment App ๐๐ต๏ธ
Not proud of this, but if this helps even one person stay safe in P2P trading โ it's worth sharing. ๐
๐ Just a few weeks ago, I was selling USDT through a P2P platform.
A buyer contacted me:
โ Verified user
โ Solid reviews
โ Quick to respond โ seemed trustworthy.
He said heโd pay via bank transfer, but then claimed his bank app was โlaggingโ and asked if he could send me a video as proof of payment in progress.
The video showed him opening his bank app, entering my account details, and clicking โSend.โ
๐ฅ It looked legit. I even saw the right amount typed in.
He begged me to confirm โ said he needed it urgently for an emergency.
Against my better judgmentโฆ I clicked โConfirmโ before checking my bank.
โณ 10 minutes. Nothing.
โณ 30 minutes. Still nothing.
๐ I called my bank โ they confirmed: No transaction had happened.
I tried messaging the buyer again โ guess what?
๐ Blocked. Gone. Like he never existed.
โ ๏ธ The Mistakes I Made (Please donโt repeat):
โ Trusted a video demo instead of real funds in my account.
โ Let urgency and emotion cloud my judgment.
โ Didnโt double-check with the bank before releasing crypto.
๐ก Real Safety Tips for P2P Traders:
1๏ธโฃ No matter what they show you โ confirm only after funds land in your bank.
2๏ธโฃ Never rush just because someone says itโs an โemergency.โ
3๏ธโฃ Use in-app chats only. If they ask to move to WhatsApp or Telegram early on โ ๐ฉ red flag!
I didnโt lose money this time โ but I came terrifyingly close.
๐ฌ Stay sharp. One emotional decision can wreck your wallet.
In P2P, caution is currency.
