#TradingPairs101 What are trading pairs and how do they work?
In trading, you never just "buy Bitcoin" — you exchange one currency for another. This is what trading pairs are for.
📌 What is a trading pair?
It is the ratio between two assets that can be exchanged for each other.
🔹 BTC/USDT
You buy or sell Bitcoin for Tether (a stablecoin pegged to USD).
➡️ Buying: you give USDT → you receive BTC
➡️ Selling: you give BTC → you receive USDT
🔹 ETH/BTC
Here you trade Ethereum relative to Bitcoin.
➡️ If the chart is rising — ETH becomes more expensive in bitcoins.
💡 Tip for beginners:
Always look at what is in the first position — this is the asset you are operating with. The second is the currency in which the price is determined.
