#Ripple Preparing to launch a sidechain of Ethereum for its XRP Ledger network.
The upcoming implementation of a sidechain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) is scheduled to go live in the second quarter of 2025, aiming to expand the functionalities of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) to position it as an even more relevant player in the DeFi and smart contracts universe.
Jaazi Cooper, product management director at Ripple, and David Schwartz, chief technology officer of Ripple, announced the upcoming launch during the APEX 2025 conference held in Singapore, according to reports from media outlets such as CoinDesk and The Block.
This development responds to a growing trend of interoperability between Blockchain networks, giving users more options and flexibility to develop and use decentralized applications.
