Here are the key aspects of Vietnam's new crypto policy: * Legal Recognition: The law officially grants legal recognition to "crypto assets" and "virtual assets." * Two-Tier Classification: * Crypto assets: Encompasses assets based on cryptographic and distributed ledger technologies like Bitcoin and Ethereum. * Virtual assets: Typically refers to non-financial tokens, loyalty points, or gaming-related digital goods. * Exclusions: It's important to note that this classification explicitly separates these categories from securities, fiat-backed stablecoins, and Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), which remain outside this legislative scope.
