OpenAI, the developer of the ChatGPT chatbot, reported achieving an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $10 billion, which is double the figure from December 2024 ($5.5 billion). This was reported by CNBC, citing a company representative. The success of ChatGPT, launched in November 2022, has ensured rapid growth: in three years, the platform has reached 500 million active users weekly and 3 million paid corporate clients.
Revenue is generated from subscriptions to the consumer and corporate versions of ChatGPT, as well as the API, but does not include licensing fees from Microsoft or one-time agreements. Despite losses of $5 billion in 2024, OpenAI plans to achieve profitability by 2029 with a revenue of $125 billion. In March 2025, the company secured $40 billion in investments, reaching a valuation of $300 billion.
OpenAI also signed a deal with the startup io for $6.5 billion, strengthening its position in the AI industry. Demand for the company's products is growing, surpassing competitors like Anthropic with $3 billion in revenue.
