Web3Security:
The new trap that arrives via SMS (and how to avoid it).
Did you receive an SMS from “Binance” alerting you about suspicious access? Be careful.
Even if the message is in the same thread as the official ones, it could be fake.
This is an increasingly common tactic: SMS spoofing.
How does this scam work?
– The attacker sends an SMS from a number that appears to be official.
– The message arrives in the same thread where you receive real alerts from Binance.
– It asks you to call a number or follow an urgent link.
– In the call, someone pretending to be support “guides” you to protect your account…
– But in reality, they make you move your funds to a wallet that they control.
And yes, it can seem very credible.
They may even send a real “password reset” email to make it more convincing.
How to protect yourself?
Verify messages directly from the official Binance app or website.
Activate your Anti-Phishing Code (or check your Binance UID if you don’t have it yet).
Never call numbers that you receive via SMS.
Use Binance Verify to confirm any link or message.
Do you know anyone who has gone through this?
