California Outbreak: Trump Sends 2,000 Troops to Deal with Immigration Protests, Governor Strongly Objects

In the past 24 hours, California has become a security hotspot when President Donald Trump unexpectedly signed an order to send 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles to suppress the wave of violent protests following ICE immigration raids on June 6.

According to the White House, this is a "necessary action to deal with the lawlessness" while Governor Gavin Newsom immediately responded, calling it a "deliberate move to cause tension" and declaring that the state still has the situation under control. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass called for peaceful protests but pledged to deal with any acts of vandalism.

The protests erupted after masked and armed ICE agents stormed factories and workplaces, causing outrage among many people. By the evening of June 7, clashes continued at Paramount: protesters erected barricades, waved Mexican flags, and confronted riot police with tear gas grenades.
