MOSCOW, June 8 - RIA Novosti. White House staff are contacting high-ranking individuals who supported both U.S. President Donald Trump and his former associate Elon Musk, asking them to choose which side they will take in the conflict, reports Rolling Stone magazine, citing sources.
"White House staff have already begun calling and messaging some of Trump’s and Musk’s high-ranking associates (major party donors, conservative figures, etc.), demanding that they choose sides in this melodrama, adding that this will likely be the easiest choice of their lives," the material states.
Media: Trump called Musk a drug addict in conversations with associates.
A senior Trump administration official told the magazine that they are "taking Elon’s friends away."
According to a source from the publication, on Thursday, when a public spat occurred between Musk and Trump, members of the U.S. government, as well as representatives from Trump's inner circle, were "flooded" with messages from external allies and colleagues from the business, media, and political elite, emphasizing their loyalty to the American leader.
The rift between Trump and Musk occurred this week after the billionaire criticized a tax and spending cut bill supported by the White House. The spat quickly escalated into personal attacks on social media and caused a stir in U.S. political and business circles.
