#TradingPairs101: What Are Trading Pairs?

To trade any asset, you need a pair—but what does that actually mean? Let’s simplify it

Trading Pair = Two assets you're exchanging.

Example:

BTC/USDT

➡️ You’re buying Bitcoin using Tether (USDT)

➡️ Or selling BTC to get USDT

🔹 Base Currency: The first in the pair (e.g., BTC)

🔹 Quote Currency: The second (e.g., USDT)

Popular Trading Pair Types:

Crypto to Stablecoin: BTC/USDT, ETH/USDC

Crypto to Crypto: ETH/BTC, SOL/ETH

Forex: EUR/USD, GBP/JPY

Stock Pairs (in some platforms): TSLA/BTC, etc.

Why it matters:

Your profits/losses are measured in the quote currency

Liquidity, fees, and volatility vary between pairs
