BlackRock, one of the largest asset management companies in the world, has recently made significant investments in Ethereum ($ETH ). On June 4, 2025, BlackRock acquired $50 million worth of Ethereum, according to Arkam monitoring data. This move follows its earlier purchase of 27,241 Ethereum on June 3, 2025.
These acquisitions are part of BlackRock's broader strategy to increase its investments in Ethereum, possibly in preparation for the launch of an Ethereum exchange-traded fund (ETF). In May 2024, BlackRock funded its proposed Ethereum ETF, named iShares Ethereum Trust (ticker: ETHA), with a $10 million investment by purchasing 400,000 shares at $25 per share.
The company's shift from Bitcoin to Ethereum may reflect a strategic reallocation toward investing in Ethereum's use in decentralized finance and smart contracts. Despite these large purchases, the price of Ethereum has decreased by 2.51% over the past twenty-four hours, trading at $2,570.24 on the Binance platform as of June 6, 2025.
These developments indicate BlackRock's increasing confidence in Ethereum's potential and suggest broader institutional interest in the cryptocurrency market.
