What once was thought to be unexpected will soon turn out to end; this is pretty clear. Donald Trump and Elon Musk - the former president of the United States and the head of technology companies Tesla and SpaceX, apparently, have severed their social ties.
Trump’s political power and Musk’s money power and social media power, combined to return Trump to the White House and elevate Musk amongst the top advisors of America. But on Thursday, the partnership disintegrated in the most dramatic way.
Tensions between the two escalated quickly after Musk slammed Trump’s key domestic policy, calling it a “disgusting abomination.” Soon, they were exchanging personal insults and getting in public spats over all sorts of things.
Before long, the argument shifted to sugar, whose credit did winner Trump was, and a slight jab at Musk’s physical appearance when he last visited the Oval Office to discuss electric cars. Then there was Trump’s abrupt withdrawal of support for a Musk associate nominated to run NASA.
The skirmish found its way onto social media, as both gentlemen clashed on their respective accounts with insults and threats. Trump suggested that his campaign might withdraw billions of dollars in government contracts from Musk's companies, who began attacking him online. He suggested to create a new political party, mentioned Trump concerning government files on Jeffrey Epstein and extended support to a post tagging for Trump’s impeachment.
The dramatic fallout between two of Trump’s most prominent supporters marks the end of one of the most powerful — and unlikely — business-political ties in modern times.
