President Trump told reporters: "I am very disappointed in Elon. I helped him a lot. He knows more about this bill than anyone in the room. He had no objections to it before. Now he opposes it, and it's only after he found out we are going to cut the electric vehicle mandate that he started to oppose it."

Elon Musk: If you want, you can do that. Keep the electric vehicle and solar subsidies, even though the oil and gas subsidies remain unchanged (that's too unfair!!), but remove the dirty, unnecessary 'garbage' from the bill.

In the entire history of mankind, there has never been a law that is both 'great' and 'beautiful'. This is well known!

You either have a big, ugly bill, or you have a neat, beautiful bill.

Compact and beautiful is the way to go.
