Alleged Crypto Kidnapper Captured in Morocco

A series of kidnappings kept crypto investors in France on edge. The alleged head of the gang has now been arrested.

• The alleged mastermind behind a series of kidnappings in France, whose victims were wealthy crypto investors, has reportedly been captured by the police.

• According to French media, the Moroccan police have arrested a suspect who is said to have commissioned the kidnappings.

This suspect is reportedly a 24-year-old of Franco-Moroccan descent. France's Minister of Justice, Gérald Darmanin, praised the arrest in a post on X.

• “I sincerely thank Morocco for this arrest, which demonstrates the excellent judicial cooperation between our two countries, especially in combating organized crime,” Darmanin said.

• Interpol had already issued a Red Notice for the suspect in 2023, as he was allegedly linked to other kidnappings and criminal activities.

• The incidents involve the attempted kidnapping of the daughter of a French crypto exchange CEO, which occurred on May 13 in broad daylight in Paris.
