#TradingPairs101
A trading pair represents two assets you can trade between on an exchange, such as BTC/USDT. The first asset (BTC) is what you're buying or selling, while the second (USDT) is the currency used to quote its price. If you buy BTC/USDT, you're buying Bitcoin using Tether. Trading pairs allow you to exchange between cryptocurrencies or between crypto and fiat-pegged assets. Major pairs offer better liquidity and lower spreads. Cross pairs, like ETH/BTC, don’t use fiat equivalents. Understanding trading pairs helps you navigate markets, compare prices efficiently, and choose the best route when converting one asset into another.
