As a once-star project in the NFT space, the floor price of Moonbirds once reached 38.5 ETH. Back then, I even hosted Kevin Rose in Japan, and I thought he was so handsome (I was really a little sb).

However, with the overall cooling of the NFT market and a series of failed strategic adjustments after Proof_xyz (the former parent company) was acquired by Yugalabs, the situation for Moonbirds can only be described as extremely bleak. Recently, YugaLabs announced the sale of the intellectual property rights of Moonbirds and its related Mythics and Oddities NFT series to the crypto gaming startup Ocapgames (hereinafter referred to as OCG), adding new variables and imaginative possibilities for the future of Moonbirds.

OCG is a crypto gaming startup based in Miami, USA. Before the acquisition of Moonbirds, OCG was best known for developing the hybrid digital and physical collectible card game VibesTCG around the popular NFT IP Pudgypenguins. Its exquisite production and extreme attention to detail in physical products gained recognition from the community and demonstrated OCG's potential in IP activation and game product development.



OCG clearly stated plans to integrate the Moonbirds, Mythics, and Oddities series into its expanding Web3 gaming ecosystem. They believe Moonbirds 'are just nesting in the bear market, full of untapped potential' and plan to inject new vitality into Moonbirds through product-driven development, focusing on games, collectibles, and culture, bringing it to new fans and deepening connections with the existing community.

After OCG took over, the future development of Moonbirds presents the following trends and possibilities worth noting:

1. Deeply integrating into the gaming ecosystem, enhancing empowerment and value: OCG's core advantage lies in game development and IP activation. It can be anticipated that Moonbirds will not just be PFPs, but can become the protagonists in games, attracting more attention. Moreover, as the first IP under OCG, Moonbirds even has the chance to be the core character, cross-game asset, or rights certificate in all future games of OCG.

2. Continuing collaboration with Otherside, retaining the metaverse narrative: According to the agreement, Moonbirds will still have a place in Yugalabs' OthersideMeta metaverse and will have a complete 3D virtual avatar. This means that the metaverse narrative of Moonbirds will continue.

3. Community revitalization and brand reshaping: OCG emphasizes connecting new and old users through carefully crafted experiences. With its accumulated IP operation experience from the PudgyPenguins project, OCG is expected to inject new cultural connotations into the Moonbirds brand.

After the acquisition news was announced, the floor price of Moonbirds surged from about 0.29 ETH to 0.9 ETH, tripling, showing the market's positive expectations for this change. However, in my view, the short-term price increase is more based on market sentiment and expectations. Whether Moonbirds can regain its former glory still needs OCG to prove through continuous product innovation and value construction.
