In Ukraine, law enforcement detained a 35-year-old man suspected of hacking over 5000 accounts of an international hosting service. The accounts were used by the perpetrator to deploy virtual machines and engage in illegal mining, causing damage of approximately $4.5 million.

According to law enforcement, since 2018, the detained individual has been searching for vulnerabilities in the security systems of international companies using information from open sources, with the aim of accessing their servers. Thus, he managed to hack over 5000 client accounts of the international hosting service.

With their help, he launched virtual machines, which he used to engage in illegal mining of crypto assets. The damage from his actions amounts to about $4.5 million.

It was also established that the perpetrator has several accounts on specialized hacker forums.

The detained individual has been charged with unauthorized access to information and communication systems.
