MANTRAS $OM crypto currency
In mid-April 2025, Mantra's OM token experienced a dramatic collapse, plummeting over 90% in value within hours. The token's price fell from approximately $6.32 to as low as $0.49, erasing more than $5 billion in market capitalization. This event has been attributed to several factors:
1. Forced Liquidations: A significant OM holder underwent massive forced liquidations on centralized exchanges during periods of low liquidity, triggering a cascade of sell-offs.
2. Liquidity Concentration: The crash highlighted critical liquidity concentration issues within the crypto market, where a few large holders can significantly impact price movements.
3. Tokenomics Concerns: Analysts pointed to flawed tokenomics, including an uncapped, inflationary model and heavy centralization of token supply, which may have exacerbated the collapse.
In response to the crash, Mantra's co-founder, John Patrick Mullin, announced plans to burn up to 300 million OM tokens (approximately 16.5% of the total supply) to restore confidence and reduce circulating supply.
As of now, the OM token is trading at approximately $0.33. The Mantra team continues to work on rebuilding trust and ensuring the stability of their platform.
