In January, Coinbase learned that a contract employee from Taskus in India leaked customer data.
This was linked to a security breach worth $400 million.
The breach involved an employee who secretly photographed sensitive customer information and sold it to hackers.
More than 200 employees were subsequently terminated.
Coinbase did not realize the extent of the breach until May when it was extorted by those who possessed the stolen data.
