According to BlockBeats, the European Union has dispatched a technical team to Washington to engage in trade negotiations with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.

The EU issued a warning last weekend, stating that Trump's potential increase of steel tariffs to 50% could jeopardize negotiations between the two major economies and lead to retaliatory tariffs on American goods.

On Monday, an EU spokesperson reiterated this warning, emphasizing that if the negotiations do not yield a balanced outcome, the EU is prepared to implement countermeasures. EU Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič is expected to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer in Paris on Wednesday.
