#CEXvsDEX101

Sometimes I get asked (actually - no, but one was - it's one point), where is better to start: on centralized exchanges (CEX) or decentralized (DEX). And every time I sigh. Because there is no perfect option. I personally use Binance - simply because it is convenient, familiar, and has the necessary pairs. But every time I withdraw funds to a cold wallet, I feel a slight relief. Just in case.

If you are just starting, it’s easier to start with CEX. The interface is clearer, liquidity is higher, everything is fast and without any hassle. But make sure to enable two-factor authentication and don’t keep all your assets on the exchange. Even if it seems reliable. The best approach is to trade and then withdraw. And yes, don’t keep there more than you are ready to lose. A simple but important principle.

DEX is good because the funds are under your control. But if you don’t fully understand what a private key is, how the network works, or what the strange numbers in MetaMask mean - it’s better to practice with small amounts for now. They won’t forgive mistakes there.

So choose wisely. As for me… I’m just waiting for the network to overload again at the most inconvenient moment.
