U.S. Court Blocks Trump’s Global Tariffs
The U.S. Court of International Trade has ruled that former President Trump exceeded his authority by imposing tariffs without congressional approval, citing a national emergency.
The court has struck down tariffs ranging from 10% to 84%, which were introduced in April 2025 to address a so-called “trade imbalance” and to “combat drug trafficking.”
The Trump administration has already filed an appeal with the Federal Court of Appeals, and the final decision may be made by the Supreme Court.
This ruling does not affect the separate 25% tariffs on specific goods such as automobiles, steel, and aluminum.
