A 27-year-old woman was innocently killed at her doorstep; the murderer has never apologized, stating, 'Your daughter lost her life, my daughter lost her freedom.' On May 27, the Chengdu Intermediate People's Court issued a notice about the postponement of the trial for defendant Liang, who is accused of intentional homicide. The notice stated that due to the legal reasons of the victim's close relatives' legal representatives, the defendant, and the defense lawyer requesting witnesses to appear in court during the pre-trial meeting, the hearing would be postponed.
On May 28, the victim's mother, Ms. Wang, told reporters that she and her lawyer would comply with the court's regulations and prepare their work before the next court session.
Ms. Wang said that until today, the murderer's parents had not contacted her. On February 17, 2025, her lawyer came to Chengdu to review the case files. The lawyer told the prosecutor that the murderer's parents were too indifferent; it had been half a year without a phone call. On May 16, the lawyer received a court notice for the hearing, and subsequently, the court handed over a handwritten apology letter from the murderer's parents, dated February 25.
Ms. Wang said that this apology letter showed no sincerity, as it did not acknowledge any responsibility for their child, saying, 'My daughter lost her life, her daughter lost her freedom.' Is your child's loss of freedom caused by my daughter?
Ms. Wang said that after the incident, the murderer's parents moved out of the community overnight. After government intervention, they were found in Wenjiang District and were asked to call Ms. Wang. They did not respond directly but instead blurted out, 'Because of this incident, I ran away from home overnight; now I still have to spend one or two hundred every night to stay in a hotel.' Ms. Wang said their daughter committed a crime, causing public outrage, and they were scared and ran away.
Ms. Wang told reporters that once the next court date is confirmed, she will inform the public in a timely manner.
