In 2013, a guy on Reddit—under the nickname “u/lolxdude”—decided that Dogecoin (the cryptocurrency with the Shiba Inu face from the meme) was the joke of the century. He started mining it for laughs, literally because of the memes. Back then it was worth less than $0.0002.

A few years later, Dogecoin suddenly began to grow—thanks to Elon Musk and TikTok.

At its peak in 2021, Dogecoin was worth about $0.73.

u/lolxdude posted on his account:

“I accidentally became a millionaire. I just wanted to show my friends that I mine dog coins.”

He had more than 3 million Doge and sold part of it for about $1.5 million.
