MetaMask, the most famous Ethereum wallet, announced this Tuesday (27) that it is working with the cryptocurrency Solana (SOL) and other tokens from this network.
The promise had been made back in early March. In addition to Solana, developers also stated that the wallet will be working with Bitcoin later this year. However, this functionality has not yet been added.
Due to MetaMask's popularity, these integrations could accelerate the adoption of other cryptocurrencies beyond Ethereum. In any case, the main idea seems to be to cover ground, as competing wallets are already working with multiple currencies.
MetaMask officially starts working with the Solana network.
MetaMask is a wallet created by Consensys, a company founded by Joseph Lubin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum. Given this, its main focus has always been on Ether (ETH) itself.
However, MetaMask revealed this Tuesday (27) the integration of the Solana network, which can now be accessed through the latest version of the extension (v12.18). For security recommendations, the extension should be downloaded from the official MetaMask website.

Currently, SOL is the 6th largest cryptocurrency in the market, with a market cap of $93 billion. In addition, it is the main competitor to Ethereum.
To use the Solana network in MetaMask, simply create a new account or import an existing one. The balances of the network, including SOL and other native tokens, will be loaded automatically.

Developers point out that it is already possible to connect to sites like PumpFun, known as the 'meme factory of Solana', using MetaMask. The same applies to other services.
The community is waiting for Bitcoin integration in MetaMask.
In the previous announcement made in March, MetaMask promised not only the integration of Solana but also Bitcoin. Therefore, the community is now waiting for this addition.
Although there is no specific date, developers pointed out that this should happen in the third quarter of 2025.
As they met the deadline with Solana, it is possible to trust this forecast and expect the feature to be available between early July and the end of September.
