The coins in the crypto space are just those jumping numbers, which of course are money.
However, no one in the crypto space sees those jumping numbers as real money.
Let me share a few interesting stories.
I used to be in e-commerce, and when I attended community gatherings, I found that these e-commerce people had a very elite aura.
I have seen quite a few people in the crypto space, and they all have a strong rough-around-the-edges vibe.
In fact, those trading crypto are often much wealthier than those in e-commerce.
I have never understood why. Recently, I finally realized it's because people who trade crypto never treat crypto as money.
In real life, no matter how much money people in the crypto space have in their accounts, they live frugally.
I met an online friend in another community; he bought Bitcoin in 2014 and had over 40 million by 2021. He never sold during the bull market. I remember on the day of a big drop, he lost over 9 million in one day. He never sells. Now he should have around 60 million. He doesn’t do any arbitrage, just buys Bitcoin. I asked him why he doesn't do it; he said he’s too lazy and can’t possibly spend it all. Just holding is enough. I asked if his family knows about this money; he said none of them do—not his parents, relatives, or wife. People’s views on money are very distorted; he doesn’t dare to say it, as it would cause big trouble. He doesn’t spend money. I said, 'Then you can only communicate with others online; don’t most people buy cars or houses to improve their lives when they make money?' He said, 'I can earn about 300,000 a year from my job, and I live very satisfyingly. I drive a Volkswagen Sagitar to work, feeling very secure. As for that crypto money, it makes me feel very confused; I feel like it’s not money but a kind of dreamy feeling.'
There was one time during the last bull market when I went out with friends from the crypto space; it was late at night, raining heavily, and we were all in his car. I said, 'Let’s stop over there; it’s too inconvenient to walk through the rain.' He said, 'There’s a parking fee over there; let’s park here; this little rain is nothing.' We all had to get out of the car and run through the rain. But he had tens of millions in assets in his crypto account.
Ordinary people who make money in the crypto space seem to be like this.
Their accounts can drop by hundreds of thousands in a day, and they don’t even blink, remaining very calm.
But when it comes to taking a taxi, they will calculate how much the fare is, whether the subway or taxi is cheaper, and taking a luxury car is out of the question.
When hungry, they won't even spare 8 yuan for a pancake on the street.
The fluctuations in losses and profits in their accounts can be tens of thousands. They don't care at all.
Why is this the case?
Could it be that the coins in the crypto space are not money, which is why they don’t feel heartbroken when they lose?
I see that people in the crypto circle are like this; they wouldn't even splurge on a KFC chicken wrap.
In daily life, they are very frugal, but when it comes to buying crypto, they spend thousands here and tens of thousands there, pulling money from everywhere to buy.
They show no sign of being reluctant to spend money at all. Even if they lose, it doesn't matter.
They use their phones until the screens crack; they stick tape on it and continue using it, unwilling to spend money on a new one.
I find that people in the crypto space are very low-key, pragmatic, not showy at all, and they love to share what they bought and how they earned it; they absolutely won't hide it.
Moreover, those who make money in the crypto space are the ones who don't know how to spend money.
If you're always thinking about spending money and want to earn money to upgrade your car, it's very likely you won't make much money.
Let alone those who are solely focused on chasing hundredfold returns.
Their monthly salary is only a few thousand. When buying crypto, they feel no remorse, they don’t even treat money as money; they just buy when they see it.
They buy for the equivalent of two months' salary without a second thought.
But when it comes to buying a piece of clothing, having a nice meal, or riding a shared bike, they think, 'Forget it, let's save this 1 yuan.'
It's so surreal; when the shitcoins and vaporware go to zero, they might just sigh, 'Oh, I got cut.'
The tolerance of crypto people is beyond your imagination; even if they lose a lot of assets, they don't feel like they lost much.
In the morning, I saw a brother in the group who clicked an unknown link and lost 4 million worth of Ethereum.
In reality, if someone were scammed out of millions, they would probably be depressed and think about dying. People in the crypto space would only feel a little sympathy and scold themselves.
This matter has passed.
People in the crypto space may seem rough around the edges; they might not be appealing to girls on the outside, but inside, they are actually quite kind.
More importantly, they are reliable and resilient.
