Sharplink Gaming Announces $425 Million Private Placement, Incorporating Ethereum into Treasury Strategy
Sharplink Gaming has announced it will conduct a private financing of up to $425 million and plans to make Ethereum (ETH) its primary treasury asset. The company expects to begin large-scale purchases of ETH after the issuance is completed on Thursday.
Private Placement Details 🔎
Sharplink has reached PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) agreements with several investors to issue approximately 69.1 million shares. The main investor in this private placement is Consensys, with other participating institutions including Pantera Capital, ParaFi Capital, Galaxy Digital, and Ondo.
This financing is expected to bring in $425 million to execute its Ethereum treasury strategy.
Consensys Participation and Board Changes ⭕️
Consensys CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin will join Sharplink's board of directors as chairman following the completion of the transaction. He stated that Consensys will work with Sharplink to explore the application potential of Ethereum in corporate finance.
Increasing Adoption of ETH as Treasury Asset ❤️
Sharplink is not the first. Medical technology company BioNexus Gene Lab announced in March that it would incorporate ETH into its treasury, and blockchain company BTCS recently increased its holdings to 12,500 ETH.
In addition to ETH, the demand for Bitcoin (BTC) and Solana (SOL) is also increasing, reflecting the expanding trend of digital assets as treasury assets.
ETH Price Trends and Challenges 🇺🇸
Fueled by news from Sharplink, ETH rose about 4% on Tuesday, but is currently still hovering in the critical resistance range of $2,750 to $2,850. This range has historically been a bear pressure zone, and for ETH to break through, significant buying support is still needed.
According to Coinglass data, the total liquidation amount in the ETH contract market over the past 24 hours reached $68.43 million, with the short liquidation amount ($45.89 million) indicating strengthened bullish sentiment.
