On this day in 2010, a programmer named Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 Bitcoins for two pizzas from Papa John's, which were delivered to him by another user in exchange for the cryptocurrency. At that time, Bitcoin had very little value, and the transaction was seen as an experiment to prove Bitcoin could be used as money. Today, those 10,000 BTC would be worth millions of dollars, making it one of the most famous and expensive pizza purchases in history.
