In a recent appearance on the FlexCast podcast, Brazilian Bitcoin advocate Renato Amoedo — popularly known as Renato 38tão — praised the selflessness of Bitcoin’s mysterious creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. According to 38tão, Satoshi renounced unimaginable wealth, global recognition, and even a potential Nobel Prize — all to preserve the purity and decentralization of Bitcoin.
“Satoshi had to disappear for Bitcoin to become bigger than himself,” 38tão said. “Imagine giving up a fortune of 1 million BTC — over €100 billion — and never even receiving a handshake or public credit for it. That’s not just humility; that’s vision.”
For Renato, Nakamoto’s decision to vanish was intentional and deeply symbolic — a “conception without sin,” as he puts it — ensuring that no single figure could dominate Bitcoin or compromise its decentralized ethos.
38tão, author of Bitcoin Red Pill and a key voice in Brazil’s crypto scene, also emphasized Bitcoin’s long-term potential, claiming it could surpass gold in value over the coming centuries. “Bitcoin is scarcer, more portable, more divisible, and more fungible than gold.
