How many billions would you have today if you had invested R$ 10 thousand in Bitcoin 15 years ago?
During this period, the cryptocurrency appreciated an impressive 847,748,548% in reais; anyone who had invested the amount of R$ 10 thousand in the asset would today be the 4th richest person in Brazil.
If you had invested R$ 10 thousand in Bitcoin (BTC) exactly 15 years ago, you would today have around R$ 72 billion and would occupy the position of the 4th richest person in Brazil, behind only businessman Jorge Paulo Lemann, heir of J. Safra, Vicky Safra, and Meta co-founder Eduardo Saverin.
This is what a simulation conducted by Vault Capital, a cryptocurrency investment consultancy, shows at the request of InfoMoney.
With this increase, the R$ 10 thousand invested back then would be worth R$ 84,774,864,800 gross today, according to the simulation. Assuming the investor was at an international exchange that charges 0.015% fees for sales above US$ 4 billion, they would pay about R$ 14 million in fees for withdrawals, leaving a profit of R$ 84,761,206,125.18, already including the originally invested R$ 10 thousand.
If this billionaire decided to convert and withdraw everything in reais, they would have to pay income tax (IR). Gains with crypto assets on foreign exchanges, according to the Federal Revenue, are taxed at a fixed rate of 15% (different from the rule applied to local exchanges).
